April 2015 – They are still crying for Help!
Being back from Vanuatu one thing is quite clear: Even more than two weeks after the devastating cyclone the people are still very much in need for help. It looks like one of the major problems is still the supply of drinking water.
On the island of Efate and the other main islands water is at least available in some parts. Up north some have to use water from a nearby river and have to add tablets for purification. The government of Vanuatu was very much in hope for water purification plants from abroad.
Still the airport of Port Vila seems to be a very weak link in the chain. It’s simply to small to handle a larger number of aircraft.
For DW-TV (German TV) we made a short report on the situation. It’s here on YouTube.
